Drain Gets Plugged during a Storm in Lancaster South Carolina Causing Water Damage

While nature has a way of working with leaves and trees, it is when we put man, leaves, and water together that one might find enough conflict to reack havoc on many different levels.

SERVPRO of Kershaw and Lancaster Counties received a call one night after a severe storm had passed through. Water was to the five foot mark on the first level of the home, causing heavy water damage.

Once upon a time the home owner could access the lower level of their basement level through an outside door that one had to use steps down to reach the door.  On the landing at the bottom there was a storm drain.

Upon arriving SERVPRO of Kershaw and Lancaster Counties crew discovered literally five feet of water in what had been turned into a living quarters of a rental home.

The flooding in the home was due to the down stairs outside access to the lower level being filled with leaves this causing the drain to plug and the water to backup into the living quarters causing a tremendous amount of water damage.  In no time SERVPRO of Kershaw and Lancaster Counties had cleaned out the leaves from the drain, and stairwell.  The water was extracted from the home, and the water damaged contents removed, which then allowed SERVPRO of Kershaw and Lancaster Counties to begin the dryout process, and then provide a mold remediation.
